County Veterans rides on the van as long as they only
need light assistance getting into and out of the van.
Transporting veterans to any VA facility in our VISN
which currently is the Waterloo Outpatient Clinic, the
Cedar Rapids Vet Center, and Iowa City VAMC. We are
not able to transport scooters or any equipment that the
volunteers cannot handle themselves.

To verify that the individual is a veteran, they need to
either have a DD-214 on file with the county recorder or
have one on file in our office.  If they do not have a copy
of their DD-214 in either of those places, we strongly
recommend that they take a copy to the county recorder’
s office.

For a van ride call  (319) 352 – 4209
or visit them on the web at
www.co.bremer.ia.us/veterans-affairs

We travel both day and night but we cannot stay
overnight in Iowa City.  In such cases, such as a sleep
study, the veteran would be transported to Iowa City the
night of their study and we would pick the veteran up the
we do allow escorts to travel with the veteran as long as
the van is not full of other veterans.  To date, we have
not had to turn an escort away.
